Happy Birthday America! You’re looking pretty darn good for being 237 years of age.

All of us across this great land of yours are celebrating your birth in our red, white and blues, at backyard grills outs, pool parties, and beach getaways.

Bakers are doing their best to recreate your flag in the form of a cake, buying out all of the blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries in the process.

I was planning to make you some festive red, white, and blue cupcakes for your birthday (I’m big on cupcakes for friends).

Unfortunately for you, I was one of those naïve fools that ventured to the grocery store early this am to look for ingredients, only to leave empty handed.

Tear.

So while you and the rest of the viewers will have to wait for the cupcake recipe (and trust me it’s good!), I wanted to share some of the festive treats that I’ve come across on the interwebs.

1. Triple Berry Layered Lemon Cream Cake – Lauren’s Latest

2. Firecracker Popsicles – Sweetsonian

These adult popsicles are simply amazing. A homemade strawberry sorbet with triple sec and vodka, followed by a layer of homemade vanilla ice cream with bourbon, and topped with homemade blueberry sorbet. Fresh fruit, alcohol and your red, white, and blue color combo all in one? Go America.

3. 4th of July Flag Cake – Glorious Treats

This is not your average flag cake!

Healthy, delicious, and festive looking, what more could you ask for?

As all of us gather to celebrate Fourth of July, let’s make sure to take time and thank those that have given us the opportunity to be able to live in the land of the free and home of the brave. Go ‘Merica!
